Signing into FAQ.extension.org with your OpenID for the First Time

    6 Steps (or less) to Signing into FAQ.extension.org

    1. Go to the sign-in page at FAQ.extension.org

    Click the "People profile page" link to get your OpenID.

    You'll be taken to the eXtension People App.

    (If you know your OpenID, skip to Step 4)

    2. Sign-in to eXtension People with your username and password

    You'll skip to Step 3 if you are already signed in to the People application.

    3. Scroll to the bottom of your profile page.

    The URL is your OpenID.

    Copy this address.

    4. Go back to the FAQ sign-in page and paste in your OpenID

    Your browser will probably auto-complete this url the next time you visit

    5. The People application will ask you to allow it to share personal information with the FAQ application

    This is a one-time step where you give the People app permission to trust the FAQ app and give it access your name and email address. Click Allow and you'll be done.

    (As a side note, many web sites allow OpenID for sign-in, but if you don't trust the website, you should not click allow. In this case, you can trust the FAQ application so clicking "allow" is OK.)

    6. You are now signed in and will be redirected back to the FAQ application

    The next time you visit the FAQ application this process will be much quicker. You can skip straight to Step 4 and click "Sign In". (If you are already signed into People you'll go to straight into the FAQ app. If you aren't signed in you'll be prompted to sign in your People first, and then you'll be redirected to the FAQ app).
